Welcome to MTEC 2011
The International Maritime-Port Technology and Development Conference 2011 or MTEC 2011 is the 3rd of the MTEC series of conferences held alternately in Singapore and Rotterdam. MTEC2011 is jointly organised by MPA, NTU and NUS, and co-organised by the Port of Rotterdam, Delft University of Technology and the Singapore Maritime Academy.
In conjunction with MTEC 2011, an exhibition featuring the latest R&D and technological products, systems and services in the port, maritime and offshore industries will be organised.
Conference Coverage
The following thematic areas will be addressed during the conference. Prominent keynote speakers will be invited for the 4 areas to offer views and share their experiences on the latest development, technologies, practices and trends.
Papers are invited to be submitted for the key areas below. Papers outside the areas indicated but relevant to the four topics may be considered.
Green Port and Shipping
The maritime industry, like all industries, is facing increasing global concerns over climate change and environmental issues. With these concerns the impetus for research, development and adoption of clean energy and environment.
Papers on some of the green port and shipping areas given below are invited for presentation:
- Ship Emissions and Waste Treatment Technologies
- Ballast Water Treatment, Environmentally Friendly Antifouling Coatings, and Cold Ironing Technologies
- Waste Energy Utilisation, Diesel-Electric Hybrids, Energy Efficiency and Energy Management Systems
- Treatment of Dredged Materials
- Oil and Chemical Pollution Detection and Remediation
- Remote Sensing and Environmental Monitoring Technologies
- Renewable and Alternate Sources of Energy
Port Planning and Development
Million of containers are handled globally across all major trade zones. Port connectivity and pre-recession shipping volume growth had led to design of larger vessels, new port construction, and application of technologies, such as intelligent systems and advance equipment.
Looking beyond the current recession, papers on the following areas are invited for presentation at the conference to focus on future growth, which will eventually return:
- Terminal Operation Concepts, Resource Planning, Forecasting Methods & other Port Management Techniques
- Scheduling and Optimisation of Terminal Equipments Deployment
- Use of Information Technology and Simulation
- Supply Chain Management and SCM Technologies
Port Operations and Technology
Ports around the world are currently recovering from the global recessions. To ensure that they are ready when trade growth resumes, operators should constantly improve using new technologies, methods and processes. In this respect, papers on the following areas are invited for presentation:
- Port Operations Systems
- Port Equipment and Automation Technology
- Port Security Technologies
Offshore & Marine Technology
The quest for new technologies to produce more from every well and to access resources in much deeper waters and in areas not accessible before to meet global energy needs has not abated as the advance technologies could hold the key to future success. Papers on the following areas are invited for presentation:
- Floating Production Storage and Offloading, Jack-up and Very Large Floating Structures / Semi-submersibles
- Structural Design and Performance
- Production Technique of Ships and Marine Structures
- Moorings and Risers
- Exploiting Stranded Gas
- Offshore Renewable Energy
- Seafloor and Sub-Surface Engineering
- Subsea systems
- Extended Well Testing/Early Production System for Marginal Fields
